About the Business

At TCAP it is our mission to provide the opportunity for professionals to extend their knowledge and skills into the exciting world of animal physiotherapy, without having to first train as a human physiotherapist.

Although we have a large team and support network The College of Animal Physiotherapy is essentially a family business. Sherry Scott, our president has been working in the industry for over 35 years and has trained many successful therapists across the world. Sherry's son Fred Lawrence and her daughter Jaqui manage the college.

For future students This is my personal experience of the course and it may be different for others, but I wanted to share it so that anyone considering enrolling can make a fully informed decision. I enrolled with The College of Animal Physiotherapy hoping it would support my progression within the animal care industry. Unfortunately, my experience was very disappointing. Throughout the course I felt very much on my own with the learning. While I understand that independent study is expected, I had anticipated more structured guidance and support given the nature and cost of the programme. There were very few practical days available, which made it difficult to gain the hands-on experience I had hoped for. I also asked about opportunities for further CPD but was not offered any options when I enquired. I found there was very little help when it came to finding a placement. Although I asked for guidance, there was no follow-up to see whether I had been able to secure one. This left me feeling quite unsupported during an important part of the course. In addition, there were no personal check-ins throughout my time studying. Communication mainly consisted of generic emails sent to all students rather than any individual support or progress discussions. The only time I received one-to-one emails was when I initiated contact first. Given the overall level of support and the amount of independent learning required, I personally did not feel that the course represented good value for the £8,000 fee. I raised my concerns and requested a refund, and even asked whether a small portion of the fee could be returned as a compromise. However, this was declined. As a result, I feel that I have lost a significant amount of money for a course that did not provide the level of support or experience I had expected. The course may suit people who are very comfortable working almost entirely independently, but for me it did not meet my expectations. I would strongly encourage anyone considering enrolling to research carefully and fully understand the level of independent learning required before committing.
